Valentine"s Day 2014

Diesel All About Leather.

“Diesel is all about rebels,” insisted Nicola Formichetti, the brand’s artistic director and arguably one of the biggest rebels on the block.
Never one for downtime, Formichetti is releasing a new leather-centric #Diesel Tribute capsule ahead of the Venice show.
And the twenty-piece clothing and accessories range—a follow-up to November’s denim capsule of the same name—embodies the designer’s iconoclastic outlook
. “We are elegant rebels, modern-day rebels, and I think leather sums that up,” said Formichetti of the collection.
A nod to Diesel’s archive, the outing comprises a zip-front body-con leather dress; a stud-embellished vest; jeans; tees; and jersey denim bombers, pants, and intimates that ooze all the toughness of leather but offer a little more comfort.
The centerpieces, however, are a hand-stitched patchwork leather bomber and matching pants. “I didn’t want to do something super-trendy, and we can’t make it very cheap,” said Formichetti of the collection, which is priced between $120 for a T-shirt and $3,800 for those patched-up pants.
“You know, fast fashion is cool and inexpensive, but after a couple of months, it falls apart.
I wanted to do something more timeless, something that will last and remain in your wardrobe.”

Diesel is off the chain for this campaign ad!
I can't wait to see what they have in store for the rest of 2014!

"#Diesel Tribute Leather debuts exclusively here in a campaign by Nick Knight, which he shot entirely on his iPhone. “It was all about apps and doing everything instantly on set,” said Formichetti, who famously launched his reign at Diesel with a robust social media initiative. As for the cast, Formichetti tapped the same breed of staunch individual that he has featured in previous advertising efforts. (His first accessories campaign was fronted by stripper-turned-rapper Brooke Candy, and Diesel’s recent We Are Connected ads starred Jillian Mercado—a striking 26-year-old blogger with muscular dystrophy—and her wheelchair.) “They’re people we found on Tumblr—some friends, friends of friends, models, you know, a good mix,” said Formichetti when quizzed on his fresh faces. “Pulling these unsung heroes is [important], and I think it’s so cool that Diesel’s brave enough to support them because, you know, the fashion world is crazy.”"

Peter Pilotto x Target.

Peter Pilotto collaborates with Target.
Full collection complete.

The full lookbook for Peter Pilotto's Target collection landed last night with a pop.
Naturally, the collab's bursting with the label's signature kaleidoscopic prints, but it also boasts a dizzying array of outfit options.
Rash guards tucked into mini skirts, slip-on sneakers paired with cocktail dresses—there's a strong focus on layering and mix-and-match-ability.
And while there's so much going on, so much of it is good—no small feat for designers more used to working within a $3,000 price point than a $30 one.

"We asked designers Pilotto and De Vos about the challenges of adapting their luxe line to a wallet-friendly capsule.
"You kind of go crazy about it, but in a good way," Pilotto told us, "to figure out the puzzle of how to make something really exciting, but within the limitations."
Judging by the lookbook, we'd say they pieced it together perfectly
Click through to see the full collection, most of which retails for less than $60 and goes on sale in Target stores and on Net-a-Porter.com on February 9, 2014."

COMPLETE COLLECTION

It's finally here

BY NATALIE MATTHEWS JANUARY 14,
COURTESY OF

At Home with Proenza Schouler.

Everybody loves a designer that thinks outside the box on many occasions.
The theme for this house for their Spring '14 collection was domesticity.
Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez chose their Massachusetts home as the setting for their new David Sims-lensed campaign.
"We wanted to layer in a more private and personal tone to the campaign this season, which David has captured in a series of abstracted portraits and atmospheric landscapes shot on location,” the designers told Style.com
. The brand’s Spring stars, Charlotte Lindvig and Harleth Kuusik, appear in Proenza’s cleverly constructed pleated wares, their hair blowing in the Northeastern wind.
The leafy, rural backdrop only adds to the ethereal mood.
Have a first look at Sims’ Spring snaps (above), and catch the debut of Proenza’s heady campaign film—a collaboration between Sims and Eddie the Wheel—below."

Chanel the Fashion Machine.

In addition to Lindsey Wixson, Jamie Bochert, Ming Xi, Soo Joo Park, and Nadja Bender, the star of Chanel’s Lagerfeld-lensed Pre-Spring ’14 video is a literal Chanel fashion machine, which gobbles up said models, and then releases them dripping in tweed and pearls.
Lagerfeld’s ability to churn out one lust-worthy collection after another is superhuman, at the very least.
Set your peepers on the 5 minute clip by the awesome powerhouse they call Chanel.
What are your thoughts?

Kate Moss for Alexander McQueen.

Given her close relationship with the house and the late designer, it’s somewhat surprising that Kate Moss has never fronted an Alexander McQueen campaign.
This season the forty year old supermodel is the star in it's Steven Klein-lensed  Spring '14 ads.
"Barefaced and clad in Sarah Burton’s black leather and gold warrior wares, Moss sports an acid orange pixie cut in the snaps—a touch that lends the images a Fifth Element-meets-Hunger Games vibe. (Fitting, considering McQueen frocks pop up on more than a few occasions in Catching Fire.
) Also starring in the ads is a sufficiently unnerving mini Moss doll, who’s styled to match the model.
We imagine that the toy’s role will become clear in Klein’s film for the brand.
Inspired by the voyeuristic 1960s British thriller, Peeping Tom, the short is set to go live on McQueen’s Web site at 8 a.m. EST."

Ladies in Menswear.

I love when women take on wearing menswear inspired clothing.
Salma Hayek steps out in a navy sleek suit and tie while attending Saint Laurent Fall/Winter menswear fashion show yesterday.
She was accompanied by her hubby Francois-Henri Pinault during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week!
She looks so dapper!
I wish I could see the shoes she is rocking.
Looking good Salma!

Victoria Beckham continues to give us lush fashion!
Beckham is opening up her first flagship in London's Mayfair neighborhood.
"The boutique will be located at 36 Dover Street, right across from Rei Kawakubo’s original Dover Street Market (which, you may recall, recently bowed its third location in New York).
Beckham has hired Farshid Moussavi to redesign the three-floor, 7,000-square-foot store, which will carry wares from all five of Beckham’s design categories: Victoria Beckham, Victoria Victoria Beckham, denim, optical, and accessories. “I think the time is now because I know my customer,” Beckham told WWD
While Britain is her strongest market, America follows closely behind (Beckham’s reportedly opening an office in Manhattan this February), so it may not be long before we have our own VB store to fete."
What do you all think about Mrs. Beckham doing her thing?
I honestly love her and her clothing line, so major props Victoria!

Campaign Ad.

"Stella McCartney’s Spring ad campaign stars Finnish model Suvi Koponen.
Lensed in London by Mert and Marcus, the ads were styled by McCartney herself, who told us that her goal was to “capture the freshness and sensual side of summer.”
The snaps juxtapose serene black-and-white photography against striking giant red lips, seasonal pomegranates, and berries.
“I wanted to evoke a sense of lushness with the images of fruit bursting with life and love, while balancing that with a contrast in the directness of depicting Suvi simply in black and white,” McCartney explained.
Barefaced and dressed in the daisy prints from McCartney’s Spring ’14 collection, Koponen—who also landed this month’s German Vogue cover—embodies the effortless, feminine spirit of Stella’s Spring woman."

CFDA x Bloomgindales Take on Super Bowl XLVIII.

"The Council of Fashion Designers of America has partnered up with Bloomingdale’s and the National Football League to create 48 one-of-a-kind helmets.
Each of the helmets are to be auctioned off, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the NFL Foundation.
Here, some of our favorite designers speak exclusively with ELLE on their custom creations.
Cynthia Rowley designed her helmet with a minimalistic palate in white, adding rabbit ears for a whimsical touch."

The super bowl will take place on February 2, 2014.
How awesome are these darn helmets, if I had that kind of cash, I would definitely try to win one in that auction!

""[It’s like] pulling a rabbit out of a hat,” she explained to us.
Georgina Chapman of Marchesa remained true to her brand, covering a helmet with intricate embroidery and crystals.
All it needs is a frothy gown and a red carpet."

"“Our helmet is very Marchesa!” Chapman says.
“We applied intricate embroidery and crystal accents to the helmet.”
Jewelry designer Dana Lorenz of Fenton/Fallon went with an Art Deco theme in gold."

"“The Fallon girl loves a combination of graphic and glamorous,” Lorenz says.
“The brassy, gold spike framework mimics the cage structure of the Chrysler Building and is punctuated with an army of pearl studs.”
Rachel Zoe wasn’t shy with her love of sequins, covering the entire helmet with sparkle."

"Additional designers included in the lineup are Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, and John Varvatos, among others.
The helmets will be displayed in the windows of Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship and online beginning January 15.
The auction will run through February 4 at Bloomingdales.com/superbowlhelmets, where bidding starts at $248.
One fantasy football scenario still left to imagination: Witnessing Peyton Manning throw a game-winning football in one of these.
Now that would be priceless."

Out of the helmets shown my favorites are the Marchesa, the one above, and the helmet with the rabbit ears.
Which is your favorite?
How awesome would it be to own one of these fashionably designed helmets?
A girl must dream!
