Movie Event: Angelina Jolie for Maleficent.

"Angelina Jolie went dark for her titular role in Maleficent, but for the film's photo call in London Friday, the actress was positively radiant! Less than 24 hours after she dazzled in a black Atelier Versace gown, the actress attended a press event at the Corinthia Hotel in a white knee-length dress by the same label.
The white dress was a subtle nod to the movie, courtesy of its hand-painted raven print. In the film, Maleficent relies on the shape-shifter Diaval (Sam Riley) to be her eyes and ears; to do so, he transforms into a raven.
Jolie's footwear was also apparently inspired by the movie, as the custom Christian Louboutin heels looked like thorns. The 38-year-old actress wore her blown-out brunette locks down and added a pop of color with a bold red lip.
During a recent press conference in Paris, Jolie said her Maleficent costume scared her six kids with Brad Pitt. How did she calm them down? "I brought them over to [Elle Fanning]. I introduced them to Sleeping Beauty, Prince Charming and all the nice people," she said, smiling. "They actually had to watch the prosthetics come on and off. I had a nosepiece and pointy cheeks and pointy ears and fangs in the back, so I had them come in and just watch all the pieces come off so they understood. But they really didn't like it. The littlest ones did—they thought it was fun. But Pax in particular was not OK with it at all. It's tough to see your mother that way. As a child, it's quite horrific.""

Global News: Bring Back Our Girls x Celeb Campaigning.

"On April 15, nearly 300 innocent girls in Nigeria woke up to gunfire as they slept in their boarding school dormitory, before being violently abducted by an Islamist terrorist group, and disappearing altogether. While a few dozen have reportedly managed to escape, more than 230 still remain missing. The rumors that surround the situation are chilling, with reports that indicate mass marriages, and a video from the group leader himself stating his intent to sell off the girls, who are just 15-18 years old.

It seems like an impossible situation from our standpoint, but the truth of the matter is that what we can do is raise awareness. And that's exactly what these high-profile celebrities and politicians are doing, thanks to the power of social media. Using the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, notables from Michelle Obama to Amy Poehler to Malala Yousafzai are doing their part to spread the word, encourage the U.S. government and United Nations to work with the Nigerian government, and get those young girls back home where they belong. Follow their lead and join the movement."

Fashion Collaboration: Gap x Visionaire.

For Visionaire No. 56 SOLAR (originally published in 2009), the NYC-based art and fashion pub developed a special UV-sensitive ink that changed black-and-white images to color when exposed to direct sunlight. Visionaire is reviving the SOLAR ink for a special collection of T-shirts in collaboration with Gap, which will be available at this year’s Frieze Art Fair, where Gap is operating an outdoor retail space designed by the architects Leong Leong.
“Since we knew the collection was coming out in May, our immediate inspiration was summer, color, and sun,” says Cecilia Dean, Visionaire cofounder.

The T-shirts feature artwork by Alex Katz, Yoko Ono, Richard Phillips, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Lindbergh, François Berthoud, and Roe Ethridge, some of which were published inVisionaire. When exposed to direct sunlight, the black-and-white prints on the tees turn to color—seen here in GIFs.
As with any sensible collaboration, this collection benefits both sides. “This is a great partnership,” says Rebekka Bay, Gap’s creative director. “[The collection] intersects fashion and art and allows a broader audience the opportunity to experience both brands.”

The T-shirts will be available in key global Gap flagship stores, select Visionaire retailers, Gap Boxpark in London, Gap White Space in Tokyo, and Gap White Space in New York, which will be dedicated to the Visionaire partnership from May 9-18.
