Campaign Ad: James Franco x Gucci.

After producing The Director, a documentary about Gucci designer Frida Giannini, do-everything guy James Franco is back to direct a new Gucci eyewear video. Titled Techno Color Sunglasses, the video was filmed at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and stars Franco himself alongside model Natalia Bonifacci. They both wear Gucci’s colorful new frames and instantly engage in a romantic pursuit. The vibe is cool and retro, with washed-out colors, classic cars, and plenty of Hollywood glamour.

How About Some Shade?

Maison Martin Margiela has always been a secretive house. Its labels are nothing more than white stitches; its namesake designer, who left the house in 2009, has been photographed only about twice; and its current creative team is completely anonymous. Now the ever-provocative clothier is joining forces with Berlin-based minimalist eyewear brand Mykita for a special capsule collection, which will be unveiled tomorrow at Mykita’s Soho flagship. “The conversations with Maison Martin Margiela began in June 2012,” recalled Mykita CEO and creative director Moritz Krueger. “For us, a collaboration is like an exothermic reaction, where we are mixing the DNA of two companies as ingredients together in a test glass: The result is a truly new matter.”
Krueger was shy to reveal the details of their collaborative process (no Margiela inner workings coming out here). He would talk about the results: two design groups—the Essential, which Krueger described as “historical eyeglass forms translated into the contemporary context,” and the DUAL, the more deconstructed of the two. “The glasses are not designed for any one person in mind,” explained Krueger of the shades, which, priced at $550, debut exclusively here. “None of the Maison’s or Mykita’s creations have that purpose. The Mykita x Maison Martin Margiela collection boasts a whole range of glasses, from ultralight metallic structures to thicker, cat-eye or round acetate frames.” Available at Mykita and MMM stores beginning April 17, these shades will definitely help you achieve some of that Margiela mystique.

Camo Please.

How cool are these camo sunglasses?
I wouldn't mind having this about of my eyewear collection.
Let me fill you in on the story behind these amazing shades!!

"Italian entrepreneur Lapo Elkann is a fixture on best-dressed lists and an avid collector of contemporary art, so it only makes sense that the jet-setting Fiat heir, and cofounder of eyewear and lifestyle brand Italia Independent, would be making the rounds (along with, seemingly, everyone who’s anyone) during Art Basel Miami Beach this week.

Tonight, Elkann and his crew will host the opening of MAPS: Wall to Wall in the Wynwood District, where he will debut a new capsule collection of Italia Independent alongside photographer Kristian Schmidt’s exhibition, Whale Shark Series (think: underwater snapshots of models swimming with the mammoth fish).

The corresponding limited-edition shades feature both camouflage frames and mirrored camouflage lenses (only visible from the outside). Elkann is a longtime fan of the military-inspired pattern. “I have already used it on many of my bespoke cars and bikes—specifically, a Ferrari 458, a Chrysler Jeep, a Fiat 500, and a Vespa,” he told Style.com. “I’m proud to say I have always used camo in areas where no one has before, and Italia Independent is the first to integrate camo into the lenses.”"

Want these fabulous frames? Italia Independent’s Full Camouflage Capsule Collection (from $237) will be available in January at Italia Independent

Fashion Feature.

A few weeks ago, one of my followers on Twitter asked me to check out a exclusive eyewear line.
He directed me to a young talented woman by the name of Bruzette McDaniel.
Bruzette is the designer and founder of Millionaire Kream.
Coming right of Oakland, California, the young designer has been in tuned with fashion since she was a junior in high school.
Fashion accessories has always intrigued her so she decided to start designing some for herself.
Bruzette has a online E-Shop where you can look and purchase her designer frames.
I actually want a pair for myself, I think its time we help put Bruzette on the map with a creativity.

Fashion Radar.

I spy sunglasses designed by an 8-year old.
Can you guess who it is?
No?
Well, his name is Romeo Beckham.
Son of Victoria and David Beckham,
Designing stays in the family I see!
He just signed a sunglasses deal.
His line will be called RB.
His line will presumably make glasses for similarly aged customers.
Glasses will be modeled by celebrity kids such as Suri Cruise and Leni (son of Heidi Klum and Seal).
It is said that this is possibly a rumor or the young Beckham is attaching his name to the shades.
Check out the UK tabloid that put it out there Mirror

Fashion Radar.

I spy Brazil's largest sunglasses retailer.
Meet Chilli Beans, founded in 1998 by Caito Maia.
With around 300 stores in Brazil, the brand’s known for high quality UV-protected lenses, most of which cost under $100.
"The best part: The company launches about ten new styles per week, in four different colors, and often in unique materials."
With a new outpost in Los Angeles and an eCommerce site in the works, the South American specs just got a whole lot more accessible.

Fashion Radar.

I spy The Row's latest shades that recently hit stores.
Celebs Mary-Kate and Ashley are not seen without a pair on their faces.
"There are a variety of styles, all made in collaboration with Linda Farrow, from a blue- and- rose-tinted round pair of wire frames to our pick, an oversized, rounded-off cat-eye that would be ideal for fending off the paps."
These shades are now available at Barneys New York & Bergdorf Goodman.
They each go for $325.
They are both very cool and trendy; I love them!

Acne Spring 2011.

Acne presented its Spring `11 menswear.
A collection inspired by creative director Jonny Johansson’s fond memories of disco-blasting school dances.
"Three square-framed styles—an oversized, mirrored version, and two smaller frames with an avant-garde electronica slant—are handmade using Mazzucchelli plastics."
Fellas I do not know about you but I think these sunglasses are NICE!
Stay tuned for more 2011 menswear.
