Fashion News.

"Tonight is the Met Ball, the night when fashion people that run the gamut from models to actresses to designers dress up in their themed black-tie best to celebrate the opening of the museum's annual costume exhibit. But before likes of Kimye, Anne Hathaway, and Taylor Swift walk the red carpet this evening, Michelle Obama cut the ribbon on the Metropolitan Museum's renovated $40 million costume center, called the Anna Wintour Costume Center, this morning.
Dressed in a springy green Naeem Khan number, the first lady opened the centerwith fashion bigwigs like Carolina Herrera, Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane von Furstenberg, and Donatella Versace watching. Obama, who has become a strong figure in the fashion industry since her husband was first elected in 2008, also announced that she, along with Wintour, is organizing a fashion workshop at the White House for students.
The exhibit, which opens to the public Thursday, honors Charles James, an influential designer known for his glamorous, sculptural gowns, who dressed the likes of Marlene Dietrich and Gypsy Rose Lee starting in the 1930s."

Are Heels Historic?

The Brooklyn Museum will explore questions about heels with its upcoming exhibition Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe. On view from September 10, the exhibit will feature 160 heels from as early as the 17th century to today. A main focus will be the sculptural, architectural, and artistic qualities of high heels, which range from the wearable to the avant-garde. On one end of the spectrum will be designs by household names like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Chanel, and Roger Vivier, on the other, conceptual styles by Iris van Herpen, Elsa Schiaparelli, Zaha Hadid, and many more.

Highlights from the exhibit include Marilyn Monroe’s Ferragamo stilettos from 1959; silk, metal, and glass mules by Vivier for House of Dior from 1960; CĂ©line’s mink-covered pumps from Spring ’13; eight-inch platforms designed by Rem D. Koolhaas for Lady Gaga; and mind-bending 3-D-printed heels by Van Herpen.

In addition to the show, there will be a fully illustrated catalog with essays by Stefano Tonchi, Lisa Small, and Caroline Weber, as well as six short films inspired by high heels. The films were commissioned from artists including Steven Klein, Nick Knight, and Marilyn Minter. The full exhibition will also be traveling to other venues, which have yet to be announced.

Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe will run from September 10, 2014 through February 15, 2015 at the Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238.

Lady Gaga goes Gallo.

Love art work and photography?
I spy Lady Gaga in a contribution to Inside/Out.
The exhibition at Nick Knight's SHOWstudio.com Shop.
The show, sans Gaga piece has been up since the end of June; it runs through August 14.
Armitage Shanks is a urinal placed on its side and scrawled with the words “I’m not fucking Duchamp but I love pissing with you.”
Knight snapped the above photo of the artist installing her work.
Oh yeah, collectors the piece is not up for grabs. (sale)
I LOVE IT THOUGH; I am such a little MONSTER.
