Designer Victoria Bartlett named her new clothing line VPL in 2003.

"She was referencing the term "visible panty line," and taking the '90s trend of underwear-as-outerwear (Gwyneth's Prada slip dresses in particular), and translating them for the girls of downtown New York."

For Fall 2010, they've gone into the comfort zone - literally - with slouchy knits and slinky dresses that are just as comfortable as your favorite sleep sweats - but a hell of a lot more presentable.
