First Look: Spring '15 Bridal Week.

Vera Wang (she used lots of tulle)

" The Spring ’15 bridal collections presented in New York over the last few days. Despite the influx of new labels and big retailers (such as J.Crew and Anthropologie) entering the market in recent years, most women still want a traditional look for their big day, and so there was no shortage of white lace, tulle, beading, and couture-like embellishment on the runways. What has changed is the broader scope of nuptial ceremonies that designers are addressing."

Marchesa's modern tea-length dress.

"“There are so many different kinds of weddings and so many different types of brides now,” said Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman backstage before her show. “You’ve got classic church weddings, town hall weddings, and destination weddings, but ultimately, the dress should still be beautiful. It should be romantic. It should be ethereal. It should make a bride feel like a princess or a queen for the day.” And so, Marchesa sent out a modern selection of cocktail and tea-length styles in addition to its more familiar confections. Oscar de la Renta also addressed the changing nature of weddings by featuring relatively casual looks, including a cotton eyelet bikini and matching pareo (accessorized with a floral head wreath and lei) that would be ideal for saying “I do” on a beach."

Carolina Herrera sent out a traditional gown reminiscent of Kate Middleton's famous one.

"Vera Wang, meanwhile, went unconventional in a different way, debuting her new collection via a short film. No need to be a store buyer or a magazine editor to score a front-row seat. “The opportunity to create a visual and expressive experience of the clothes, as interpreted by my fashion vision, is a whole new way for me to communicate with not only brides, but women everywhere,” Wang said in a statement."

Naeem Khan's "Malibu" style came with an unexpected overskirt.

Mara Hoffman Bridal Collection.

Mara Hoffman officially launches bridal collection for the ultimate Boho bride!
The collection consists of swimsuits as well, how EXCITING?!
Perfect for weddings on the beach.

"She could be anyone from a real-deal flower child to a more classically chic bride," Hoffman told us of the ideal woman who would wear her new the Devotional Collection.
"Ultimately she is someone who connects to the feeling and spirit of the collection."

This is the first time she has officially launched a bridal line.
"I wanted to be able to offer my customers a wedding dress option without custom making each and every one," she explained.
"Because of the requests from customers and friends, we began researching the market and saw that we could definitely fill a missing niche for ready-to-wear, affordable, and uniquely beautiful bohemian dresses."
And bohemian and affordable they are: The styles are all named after Greek, Roman, and Hindu goddesses, a nod to Hoffman's admiration for mythology, and the designs incorporate eye-catching embroidery, geometric cut-outs, and chiffon layers. Plus, the price point ranges from just $300 to $1,666.

"I think a lot of my girls aren’t really in the position to spend $5,000 and upward on a gown," Hoffman said.
"This is a way to give them something that’s super special at this price."
And she didn't have to compromise quality to get the price tag that low, either, explaining she was able to use luxe materials like silk by offering the styles directly through her website rather than by wholesale.
"We didn’t skimp on anything," she confirmed.

Here Comes the Bride.

Bride, Kate Middleton wears a stunning Alexander McQueen bridal gown.
The lace applique for the bodice and skirt was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework, with individual flowers hand-cut from lace (in shapes of roses, thistle, daffodils and shamrocks).
The dress is made of ivory and white satin gazar with a skirt in the shape of an opening flower.
The satin bodice, narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips in a McQueen signature, is based on Victorian corsetry.
The back is finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons.
The veil, made of ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, is held in place by a 1936 Cartier tiara, lent to Kate by the Queen.
Kate’s earrings—shaped like oak leaves with a pave set diamond acorn suspended in the center—are by Robinson Pelham.
The shoes are also by Alexander McQueen.

Bridezillas.

Marchesa is starting to put out their bridal collection.
They teamed up with Lenox for an ongoing collection of a wedding-themed dishes, and now they are teaming with Priscilla of Boston on a sort of Marchesa bridal bridge line.
Eterna by Marchesa will hit Priscilla’s 19 stores (they’re about to open another in Greenwich, CT) in September.
Prices will range from $1,500 to $5,000.
Do I have any bride-to-bes following me?
How does this dress look and how do you think the rest of the dresses look like?
That's a BAD dress in my opinion.
