Grand opening is tonight at Thomas Sires' on Elizabeth Street in NYC.
So who is this mysterious Thomas Sires?
It is the brainchild of Fiona Thomas and Allison Sires, designers and now co-workers of a women's label and a shop in Nolita.
Their shop's airy space with whitewashed brick walls and minimal furnishings, carries not only
their new eponymous line, but a variety of jewelry, interiors pieces,
and a selection of trinkets and (for lack of a better word) objets that struck their fancy.
The heart of the store is the Thomas Sires line, which the designers
emphasize is fashion forward but ultimately composed of pieces that they
want to wear.
The line; which also includes smartly-done silk blouses, crop tops,
skirts, dresses, and hand-dyed shibori print is all made in the U.S.A.
and retails from $175 for tops up to $500 for dresses.
They plan to
begin selling to other stores for Fall 2011, and lingerie, swimwear,
and, eventually, footwear is planned.
There’s a selection of children’s
clothing, including some mommy-and-me (analogous, not identical) knits.
